Everything that happened, bringing us to Earth, and Earth out of its captivity. All through my eyes. It's a story you know. But you don't know it all.

I Zoe's tale återberättas historien från Scalzis The last colony, fast berättat av de tidigare huvudpersonernas adoptivdotter Zoe. Jag antar att de flesta som läser denna gör det för att de uppskattat de tidigare böckerna i serien som börjar med Old mans war, men här kommer också mitt största problem med boken: det är i stor sett en upprepning av The last colony med rätt lite, och oftast meningslösa, tillägg till handlingen. Zoe's tale verkar vara ett försök av Scalzi att skriva "young adult" fiktion, kanske inspirerad av Twilight-boomen, eller kanske för att han har en tonårig dotter. Detta innebär tyvärr att de intressanta ideerna har ersatts med dräpande sarkasmer och suckar över hormonstinna tonårskillar. Sammantaget tycker jag att Zoe's tale är en urvattnad fortsättning på de tidigare verken, både idé- och handlingsmässigt. Hoppas att Scalzi återfår formen i nya Redshirts. /D
