Three Plays

This work includes the plays "A Strange Man" and "Two Brothers", translated by Stephen Mulrine, and "Masquerade", translated by Robert David MacDonald."A Strange Man", written while Lermontov was still a student, reflects his progressive attitudes towards serfdom. "Two Brothers" is strongly influenced by Schiller. Because of censorship, "Masquerade's" first production took place some 25 years after Lermontov's death in a duel.
