Vi får följa Gustavs liv till upp i 60 års åldern. Livet går kringelkrokar. Gustav är en märkvärdig man och hans egenskaper lär vi känna genom Tremains utsökta, lätt vemodiga berättelse. Bättre kan det inte bli.
