Det här är en berättelsen om en ung man inom en snar amerikansk framtid. Centralt i berättelsen är en underlig kärlekshistoria; men minst lika tydligt är historien om ett imperium i förfall (dollar som inte är Yuan-kopplad förefaller värdelös) och ett samhällsklimat i förfall (alla individer bär på en "äppärät" som delger alla massa information - att stå utanför det allomfattande social medie-spektaklet framstår inte som ett alternativ). Säkerligen handlar detta om någon slags nutida samhällskritik och det skulle kunna framstå som oerhört tråkigt, men jag tycker att denna aspekt av boken oftast är snyggt genomförd med mycket humor. Men, men; själva grundberättelsen lyfter aldrig riktigt, den lyckas aldrig fånga eller enagera mig.
