Marriott was the prime mover behind '60s chart-toppers The Small Faces. Longing to be treated as a serious musician, he formed Humble Pie with Peter Frampton, where his blistering rock 'n' blues guitar playing soon saw him take center stage in the U.S. live favorites. After years in seclusion, Marriott's plans for a comeback in 1991 were tragically cut short when he died in a house fire. He continues to be a key influence for generations of musicians, from Paul Weller, to Oasis and Blur.
