This is a detailed illustrated monograph about the design and development of the SAAB J21 - the classic and unorthodox Swedish fighter plane of the 1940s. The J21 was a domestic attempt to provide the Swedish Air Force with a true high performance fighter during its self-imposed neutrality which made it impossible to acquire modern aircraft from abroad during World War II The J21 emerged as a very advanced airframe with its streamlined shape, twin tail booms, laminar wing profile and ejection seat for the pilot. The plane eventually saw service in Sweden from 1946 to 1954.
