Quo vadis ("vart går du?") är en suveränt bra historisk roman som verkligen lever upp till sin klassikerstatus.
Sienkiewicz var väl värd sitt nobelpris. Jag läste Brombergs utgåva från 1986, varning för utgåvan i Bra Klassiker-serien som är förkortad. Det här inte en bok som mår bra av detta. I början känns det som det blir många namn att hålla reda på, men i själva verket är inte persongalleriet så stort, inte mycket större än i en genomsnittlig roman.
Boken handlar om Rom under Kejsar Neros tid, de första kristna spelar en viktig roll i handlingen. Marcus Vinicius och Petronius är fascinerande personligheter, skildringen av Lygia kanske lite ytligare. Spännande och välskriven.
