"En droppe negerblod" som den heter på svenska är en Twainklassiker skriven 1894 och på boken står det att den räknas som världens första deckare! Boken är otroligt spännande och tankvärd och ramlar framåt i stillsam takt, utan att bli det minsta tråkig. Boken tar upp rasåtskillnader mellan svarta och vita i sydstaterna för snart 150 år sedan, men berättelsen kan likväl appliceras i nutid. Berättelsen är gungande vacker. Twain kan konsten att skapa spännande karaktärer att "hålla på", även om de kanske inte alltid handlar rätt.
