This new volume of ?Nietzscheforschung? (?Nietzsche Research?) is devoted to a critical assessment of the Nietzsche debate in the GDR. Papers given at Schulpforta and Dortmund examine the relationship between Nietzsche and Hegel by taking ?The Tragedy? as an example as well as Nietzsche?s relationship to the Enlightenment and nature. Literary aspects of Nietzsche?s work and his influence on 20th century lyric poetry are the subject of a series of articles which include an assessment of Goethe?s influence on Nietzsche?s lyric verse. Consideration is also given to the will to power in Nietzsche and Heidegger, to the relationship between philosophy and music, and to theological and political aspects of Nietzsche?s work.
