Jag tycker om Wally Lamb och hans "terapi-litt", men i "The hour I first believed" blev det för tjatigt och på tok för långt och upprepande. Jag tycker att det hade räckt med berättelsen om Caelum och Maureen och hur de går vidare efter Columbine-massakern, det behövdes inte en lång sidoberättelse om Caelums förfäder. I slutet kändes det som att Lamb inte riktigt kunde bestämma sig för när berättelsen skulle vara slut utan fortsatte att klämma in fler och fler episoder som ibland kändes som rena upprepningar. Dock var det roligt att Dominick Birdsey och Dr. Patel från "I know this much is true" dök upp även i denna bok.
