Heimskringla, also known as The Lives of the Norse Kings, is a historical text written by Snorre Sturlason, an Icelandic historian and poet, in the 13th century. The book chronicles the history of the Norwegian kings from the legendary Yngling dynasty to the reign of Magnus Erlingsson in the mid-12th century. The book is divided into three parts: the Saga of the Ynglings, the Saga of the Kings of Norway, and the Saga of Magnus Erlingsson. The first part covers the earliest kings of Norway, including the legendary heroes and mythical figures. The second part covers the period from Harald Fairhair, the first king of Norway, to the battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066.
