GEOFFREY CHAUCER

Geoffrey Chaucer was born c.1340, the son of a London vintner. This collection covers not just "The Canterbury Tales", but works such as "Troilus and Cresyde". He was an active public servant, at various times a diplomat, soldier, customs official, MP, and "knight of the shire". He died in 1400.
