This manual is intended for students taking their first course in zoology. It provides exercises and experiences that will help students: 1) understand the general principles that unite animal biology; 2) appreciate the diversity found in the animal kingdom and understand the evolutionary relationships that explain this diversity; 3) become familiar with the structure and function of vertebrate organ systems and appreciate some of the evolutionary changes that took place in the development of those organ systems; 4) develop problem-solving skills.
