Liz är en kvinna utan vänner som verka lida något slags social fobi. En dag tar sonen hon adopterade bort i tonåren kontakt (tidigt i boken, det är ingen spoiler!). Känns aningen mer seriös än den genomsnittliga Couplandromanen (inte för att dessa överlag skulle vara glättiga), ibland sorglig (fast saknar knappast humor). Inte för att detta skulle vara någon nackdel, det är en av Couplands bästa.
