Både Cohn och Levithan verkar vara riktiga ord och litteraturnördar, boken är fylld med små flirtar till det engelska vokabuläret, hipster bokhandlar och författare. Men trots det är det lite väl tamt, karaktärerna känns inte speciellt nya (och ganska irriterande faktiskt) och de strävar hela tiden efter att vara så vitsiga och "Manhattan-quirky" som möjligt. Det blir tröttsamt i längden helt enkelt.
