Storyline: In this book we get the opportunity to follow Bruce Dickenson from when he was a young boy up until now, when he is without a doubt one of the world’s greatest heavy metal singers.
As readers we’ll get to know this somewhat different star, filled with energy and who does not get sucked into the typical pitfalls of stardom with drugs and booze parties. Bruce wants to get the most out of his life and is not satisfied to ‘only’ be a singer. He takes up fencing, becomes a radio talk-show host and learns how to become a pilot, at the same time as he is touring the world with his band, Iron Maiden. Prior to starting his singing career, Bruce also managed to graduate from the university with a degree in history.
Before Bruce became a singer, he wanted to be a drummer, but one day when he sat next to a guitarist, he started to sing along, and discovered his somewhat different singing style and his ability to reach high notes.
Bruce became a member of the band Samson that sometimes played on the same stage as Iron Maiden, a band that Bruce admired, but never thought that he at one time would be fronting.
Bruce is a fun and nice guy and when he learned that one of his idols Ian Gillan was coming to the same rehearsal, he throw up from nervousness.
In the end, Bruce became the front man of Iron Maiden, with whom he still is singing with today, and they are still go strong touring the world.
The question is if Bruce really will settle for this? He has always wanted to become a train driver, so he might bring all of his fans for a future train tour?
Wow, what a guy he seems to be! And how does he manage it all? The book gives a good description about the little singer who could never stand still on stage and who all the time wants to explore new areas within the music.
It was really interesting to follow his success, both within the music and in his private life. The author has successfully gathered everything about Bruce Dickinson and Helen Ljungmark who did the Swedish translation made a really good job. This is a book recommended for all, and not only for fans of Bruce Dickinson.
