The issues of value, interest and division of labour were discussed by Plato and Aristotle. This book begins with a presentation of the economic ideas of these philosophers and similar thinking in the Bible and the works of the scholastics in the 13th century. The book describes different economic schools and shows how they have arisen out of or in opposition to other schools. Bo Sandelin is Professor of Economics at the University of Göteborg. Hans-Michael Trautwein is Professor of International Economics at the Carl von Ossietzky University in Oldenburg. Richard Wundrak was formerly Professor at the Ernst Moritz Arndt University in Greifswald.
